"What is it? You look like you've seen a ghost."

I'm sick from at least two weeks of some of the worst insomnia in my life, combined with the effects of this heat wave and my already shaky mental state. Outside, it's 98˚F, with a heat index of 103˚F. Inside, in the cool part of the house, it's 87˚F. Which means it's probably 90˚F here in my office.

I slept a few hours after dawn. I awoke around 10:30 and lay down in the middle parlour (the "cool" room), and I drifted feverishly in and out of sleep for a while.

We're retreating to a local library that has AC, where I'm going to try to stay awake and get some editing done.
