Holy shit snacks.

Er...great. I turn my back for five seconds and some ass widget "improves" LJ. Which is to say, of course, that they've fucked it up. I will admit, they've fucked it up rather impressively. There's a certain 1994-quality about the aesthetic. Such as this bullshit font it has me typing in. What the fuck is this? It must be some dictate of "social media" design that "If something doesn't need fixing, just change it before they realize the company can run without us."

Yeah, I know. I can "switch to old version," but my head hurts and this is going to be short, anyway (dot dot dot)

Yesterday I finished the book. But, you know that already. Still, I felt photographic evidence was necessary:

Yep, that's the last page. And yes, I do own more than one T-shirt. Oh, and Hubero's back is to the camera because he would neither get the hell out of the chair nor sign the release form.

And, too, this is interesting. I announced, yesterday evening, that I'd finished the novel, and I did so on Twitter, LJ, and FB simultaneously. There were – and thank you all very, very much – many congratulations. However, here's where it gets interesting. Comparing the numbers of thumbs-ups I received from the three, here's the breakdown:

Twitter: 7
LiveJournal: 26
Facebook: ~170

It's hard not to look at that and feel that it strongly suggests that, currently, Facebook is the vastly superior medium for speaking to my readers. Well, so long as I speak in only a few sentences, at most. Certainly, for promotion, Facebook would seem to hold much more promise than Twitter or LiveJournal. This doesn't mean I'm going to stop blogging. But I think it may help me promote my books more efficiently.

Okay, I've told my editors and agent that I am going into hiding until Monday. And, now, that's just what I'm going to do....

Hating the "New" LJ,
Aunt Beast

Late congrats. :D *lol*

Did not know you were on FB. Link? Are you using tumblr too?

I can't even figure out what Tumblr is for, or why they left out the "e."

I'm on FB as Caitlín Rebekah Kiernan.

Sent friend request.

Mostly just for picture sharing, but I have seen a few authors there too.

Re: Tumblr

So...it's a blogging service. At least, it doesn't do anything that Blogger, MySpace, Twitter, Fcaebook, LJ, and all the rest don't already do.

Re: Tumblr
It's a blogging service, but it's slightly different in that it's mostly geared toward images, and most of what gets posted on Tumblr is just re-blogged or shared content from someone else's Tumblr.

It's good photographic evidence.

Enjoy your seclusion.

Those trousers are amazing.

I'll second the comment on the trousers, and congrats once again :)

Sad to hear you got so few responses on twitter and I hope you keep using it. I detest facebook, and the constant fuckery with what does and doesn't show up in timelines plus the whole promoted posts thing is bullshit.

About the only reason I ever login is to check for invites and messages, and that is still painful thanks to their dreadful UI.

Congrats again on finishing, and enjoy your hiding!

I wont go to FB, too many things wrong with it and the parent company for my tastes.

I too dislike logging on and having to reinvent stuff to just say hi.

Reading The Drowning Girl. You are a very good writer.

A day late but sincere congratulations on finishing the novel. Nice photo of the last page and I like how it is enhanced for our pleasure by the back of Hubero. >smile

Enjoy your hard-earned seclusion.

Have a good long hide - you've earned it!

Belated congratulations. I now check LJ about four times a week rather than my mid-aughts average of a dozen times a day.

A belated but an enthusiastic congratulations, well done, and the damned thing didn't kill you for which I am eternally grateful.

Yes! I just did my weekly catch-up read of your LJ and wanted to say congratulations on finishing the book!

And yes, I do own more than one T-shirt.
I wasn't wondering about that so much as when you were going to give Imp back her sweater.
