* This is a very conservative figure via Wikipedia. Dr. Don T. Nakanishi of UCLA, who maintains the Children of the Atomic Bomb website, cites UCLA physician Dr. James Yamakaze, as stating that "It is not unlikely that the estimates of killed and wounded in Hiroshima (150,000) and Nagasaki (75,000) are over conservative."
** By comparison, <3,000 people are believed to have died in the combined September 11, 2001 attacks. And please do note that this comparison is in no way intended as an attempt to diminish the tragedy of 9/11.
