The way I feel this morning, well, this is what three days of heftier-than-usual-Valium doses and pretty much no sleep does to a body. Or to mine. Maybe you could sail through it without batting an eye. Me, I feel like a bus hit me. Twice.

So, I just have to stay awake until two ayem or so. I think it's time to reset my clock again. Staying up far, far too late. The meds, they can't do overly much about that.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I have the new Decemberists EP, Long Live the King (plus accompanying awesome T-shirt), and great thanks to oldfossil59 for sending it our way. Right now, "E. Watson" is my hands-down favorite track (in two days, I've listened to it 42 times, according to iTunes).

Hallways, always.

Following the BIG DARK HORSE TEASE, which I linked to in yesterday's entry...well, following that was quite a lot of distraction and chaos (many, many thanks, kittens, for all the comments). No surprise. Wonder what's going to happen next Wednesday? Anyway, there was also a very long call from my agent, with some very, very good news (though I can't share any of that at this time). Many subjects were discussed. But, what with this and that, Spooky and I didn't finish with the line edits to Blood Oranges; that's what we'll do today, then send the manuscript to Merrilee (my agent).

This morning, I received Vince's pencils for the illustration to accompany "Latitude 41°21'45.89"N, Longitude 71°29'0.62"W" in Sirenia Digest. It's gonna be a great illustration; I need to get some notes back to him on it. Also, I owe a long email to The Drowning Girl cinematographer, Brian Siano, and...well, other emails. I've also got to begin talking promotion with the PR guy that Dark Horse has assigned to the BIG DARK HORSE TEASE. So, I'm pretty spoken for today. Yep. Oh! And, yesterday, I got my comp copies for The Crimson Alphabet chapbook, and they are gorgeous!

Wow. I'd be in a good mood if this "I feel like I'm dying and back again" thing would stop. Oh, and Spooky's reading the Wikipedia article on Christina Hendricks, because she's a letch. Spooky, I mean. I have no intel as to whether or not Christina Hendricks is a letch. I'd like to think she is.

Last night, a lot of RIFT (I think its growing on me again), and I wound the day down by watching "Our Mrs. Reynolds" (Firefly) and "Not Fade Away" (Angel), as Netflix is late with the new episodes of Californication (wait, just arrived!). But now, work! Get a wiggle on, platypus!

A Tenth Free of Secrets,
Aunt Beast

Still, I'm glad it's happening. Good news doesn't make you sleep, but it doesn't hurt, either.

three days of heftier-than-usual-Valium doses

there are days when having to adjust regular meds and situational meds, factoring in what I want to do, I feel like an clueless Alchemist searching for the Philosophers Stone, or even a chem major's notebook. Just to find the right combo that almost nearly might work, or to stop the sinus headache from taking off the front of my skull.

Nice analogy. But I have the right combo. I just deviated from it this week, to my current discomfort. My fault.

The Decemberists
I'm so glad you've been enjoying the music. Does Kathryn want a T-shirt as well? They offer it separately and I'd happily arrange for her to have one as well.

Kathryn always wants a T-shirt! If you really want to spring for another. Then we can be all matchy-matchy.

She just looked. She says "Woot!"

Well then Kathryn gets a T-shirt! It's good that you too can be "matchy-matchy," at least sometimes.

Disappointing tiramisu is a combination of words I would rather never have thought. It is a thing that should not be.

The other day when you mentioned Tom Waits, I meant to say that if Jeff Martin's voice was a person, I would fuck it. Likewise Gary Oldman's wink. Not Gary Oldman, just his wink. The oddest things flick my switch.

Anyhow, getting to the point I wish to make, having nothing to do with tiramisu nor disembodied attributes I would so totally fuck if they were personified. I've lately discovered that if I go to sleep around sunset and wake up before dawn, I am mercifully unmolested by the respective anxieties of morning and night. I'd honestly resigned myself to the nightly trying-to-sleep panic attacks and the daily anguish of mornings, the broken and insufficient sleep and all the assorted torments by which sleep becomes a monster to be conquered. This week just gone, quite by accident, I found the slightest window by which I may slip by them.

Not to suggest, of course, that the same would do anything for you, just to send wishes that you may find such a window too.

Well, if you're talking voices you'd fuck, make mine Beth Gibbons and PJ Harvey...

Ha, I wouldn't mind, but I suspect that would be a long thread!

I could add the sound of Alison Goldfrapp's theremin to the above list... Well, theremins in general. Uh...

Those two, entire, and not just their voices. But also their voices. And Nichole Blackman and her voice and her words.

Other non-people things I'd fuck, if they were people (I was going to start a twitter hashtag on this, actually, and see if I could get #ifitwereapersoniwouldhitit or something like that to trend) are VAST's first album, and Recoil's Liquid. Certain shades of red, the scene with the swirly girl in 300, the Spring wind off the Irish coast, and the sound of the blowhole at Alexandria Bay in Noosa. The Pacific Ocean, the smell of Queensland Summer rain, this voodoo oil I made and forgot the recipe to, Green & Black's cherry dark and espresso dark, and dancing.

And so on.

Thank you.

I do have a window. I just didn't stick to it.

So now a paw's out of the bag. Hope that makes you feel a bit better.

I'm intrigued by the Silk archival stuff you mentioned last night...and the longitude/latitude story.

Oh, Death Cab for Cutie are playing Brum in a couple of weeks! I've not heard ANYTHING of theirs, but I'm curious, knowing how you like them...

I feel quite a bit better, except for Penguin legal giving me heart attack today, then retracting said heart attack.

The latter really is, I think, quite good. Are you a subscriber?

Much of The Drowning Girl was written to Death Cab for Cutie. Indeed, "I Will Follow You Into the Dark," I think of that as Imp's song. You can see the video on YouTube.

Oh yeah! Looking forward to this issue. Thinking back to the discussion of mapping the body thus, I'd wondered if Spooky might use you as a canvas for this.

Hmm,will check out that video... Ta.

Perhaps. Maybe. In part. After I lose the 15 extra pounds I gained. Thank you, meds.

I got my comp copies for The Crimson Alphabet chapbook, and they are gorgeous!

Can't wait to get mine! An email from Bill Schafer confirmed that as each deluxe copy of Two Worlds And In Between is mailed out this week that the recipient should get a confirmation email from Subterranean Press. Patience is one of my virtues except in the case of anything CRK related :) I'm hoping next week at the latest!
