Readercon 21 Booty

I meant to post this about a week ago, but things have been so hectic and hot around here, I'm only just now getting around to it:

A horse-crippler cactus (Echinocactus texensis), approximately twenty years old. A gift from Paul T. Riddell of Texas Triffid Ranch.

This huge stack of books, mostly from Small Beer Press, and mostly courtesy the generosity of Kelly Link.

And, finally, the cherished stone The Red Tree earned, marking its nomination for the Shirley Jackson Award.

That is beautiful.

Isn't it, though. The actual award is a great lucite plaque. I like the nomination "lottery stones" much better.

I love bringing home a stack of books. What a neat assortment of things. I also dig the stone.

It is most well-deserved.

When I saw the book 'Under the Poppy' I imagined legions of corrupt politicians from Louisiana having to work in Comrade Brite's garden as punishment while she wore her seersucker suite...

Sorry, it was just what came up.

That cactus is very interesting, the stack of books covetable, and the award has a striking profoundness to it that nearly brought a tear to my eye. It's a perfect tribute to both Shirley Jackson and to you and your work. Congratulations again.
