No, there's been no writing. And what the fuck point is there in making an entry about how there's been no writing since I finished "The Eighth Veil," way back on the ninth? Not a whole lot. At least I have moved beyond lying in bed, and have actually spent the last two days at the keyboard not writing. Somehow, that entails slightly less guilt than not writing from bed. Less guilt, more frustration. My masochistic "soul" probably figures the pain incurred staring at the blank MS Word "page" earns me less guilt. It's not writing, but at least it's another sort of suffering, so I'm cut some slack.

I will try again today. Today, I will try harder than I tried yesterday.

The snow hasn't all melted away, but it's going fast.

I admit I have paused in my not writing to gaze in horror at the internet kerfuffle surrounding Evelyn Evelyn. I know people are stupid, but sometimes I forget just how stupid people can be, especially on the goddamn internet. I've really had enough of the good soldiers of the web, fighting their ignorant, petty wars for truth, light, and squeamish political correctness. Spooky came into the office, night before last, to try and tell me about the people flaming Amanda over the Evelyn Evelyn backstory. And it's not often I'm rendered speechless, but speechless was I rendered. Finally, I was able to sputter something like, "These fuckwits know Ziggy Stardust was really David Bowie, right?" Yeah, it's that stupid. There are people who live to be offended, to disapprove. And no, I'm not linking to the stupid. If you want to see, use Google.

Life's to goddamn short for this nonsense. To quote Jeffrey Goines, "Fuck the bozos!"

Well, at least I do have these photographs, the railroad bridge photos I promised day before yesterday. I will refer you to Daughter of Hounds. If you have the trade paperback, you may turn to page 238. If you have the paperback, it's page 205. If you have the trade paperback and the paperback, I love you.

You feel guilty about not writing?

You feel guilty about not writing?

Fuck yeah. Nothing so inspires guilt in me as not writing. For my part, a writer who doesn't write is...well, not a writer.

Huh. I did read Amanda's EvelynEvelyn back story yesterday but I guess I missed that there was a thing going on. People on the internet really are bored I guess.

When she first mentioned them I assumed it was just her and someone else playing a role, ala Bowie as you mentioned.

Then I read the back story and thought, "Hm, maybe they're real. I dunno."

Either way it was a good story.

Humans, what're ya gonna do eh?

There's a giant space rock involved.

You are very welcome.

lost days
My struggles with the darkness have been relatively brief. My lost days are of a different sort, as I have not fulfilled at all my own creative muse's promptings, but have spent much of my time fostering others. I do live with a man who fights the darkness every day, and thus has very little energy left for his creative work. But when he does create, music, pastels, woodworking, poetry, it is well worth the effort. I totally love and appreciate your partner, Spooky. She is an angel, if there are such beings. May your muse return as the snows melt into the Mother.

And we all know what cocksuckers angels are...

I will keep your photographs in mind.

I always want to see the "real" places described in stories; some feel otherwise.

Not as much as you love Spooky. (See, Spooky? You're safe from book buyers trying to buy Cait's love!)

Wow. I skimmed something on the Evelyn Evelyn controversy yesterday because I thought it was just a promotional bit, one of those pretend controversies to garner interest. If people are really seriously offended though...? That just blows my mind.

I wonder if anyone objecting to this Evylyn thing has ever BEEN to Walla Walla. Aren't they ALL folksy, blue-eyed, facultatively bipedal teratomas over there? And at least this pair is getting AWAY from Walla Walla; doesn't that negate any possible objection?

Sorry for being dense, but is that bridge permanently raised?

Re: angels and their filthy, filthy mouths, see the book cover here: http://fusijui.livejournal.com/192376.html (for the lingvofriki among us).

As regards Palmer, it's not so much the content of her project as her promotion of it that grates.

Thanks for the pics. I love photographing abandoned railways and their hardware, especially those browns against the blue of water or the sky. So, the tunnel is the other way, eh?

So, the tunnel is the other way, eh?

Yes. If you turn west (left), instead of heading east (right) towards the drawbridge, you head towards the tunnel.

That is really cool to see the actual locations that are described in the book. I shall have to pull out my copy and re-read that part.

Finding you on the dark side
You *really* might not be in the mood, but...
I found that children's tv has helped my depression at times. It's times when I *want* to get out of it, mind you. You may not even own a tv, I don't know. I would recommend "Yo Gabba Gabba" perhaps, maybe some old "Muppets" from youtube?

I'm glad to have found you online recently. Was a (lazy) fan I think back in the 90's but didn't follow up, sorry to say. Went to the library today and raided their collection of your stuff. I'm excited to get into it.

Wishing you the best. Hoping you have good tea, and other comforts at hand. Looking forward to reading more.
