Damn.

I've been avoiding all things Gaga, suspecting I'd be hooked, sooner or later. Now I've seen the video for "Bad Romance," and, well, it's happened. There's such an weird and wonderful mix of influences here (The Eurythmics, Bowie, Nomi, Nina Hagan, Queen, Lene Lovich, Grace Jones, and, well, it just goes on and on). Wow.

The Lady can sing.

I just had this very conversation with my boything today.

I feel a little dirty and guilty.

But dammit, she's a fabulous antidote to the Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera pop tarts of the world.

Sigh. All of us were working very hard to block your awareness of the Lady. And now this.

Yeah, like I haven't got her albums on my iTunes.

Some things are inevitable.

Here's a recent lipsynch by Gaga at the Video Music Awards. What I love is that she re-recorded the song, created a fascinating performance (wheelchair, levitation, blood, piano solo) but didn't bother to lipsynch well at all:

And here's the audio (with pics) of the painfully pitiful duet (if one can call it that) with Manson:

And then we need chasers:
Brian Molko does Bowie's "Five Years"

VNV Nation remixes AFI's "Miss Murder":

God Module "Spooky" (fan vid but with neat pics), plus is says, "I like it Spooky," over and over.

One of use, one of us...

No, seriously, she's really interesting and can actually SING. I think she actually thinks about what she does, the image she presents. I can't get enough.

This is exactly my opinion. I was hooked from the minute I heard the acoustic version of Paparazzi.

One of us. One of us.

Also, if you can find a high quality video of her AMAs performance, watch it over and over again.

The one I linked to above is the best I could find. It seems that the opening shot was bad camerawork. They zoom in on her lying on the ground and then it gets much more focused. So most of it is high quality but some of the shots from a distance are a bit off.

(The Eurythmics, Bowie, Nomi, Nina Hagan, Queen, Lene Lovich, Grace Jones, and, well, it just goes on and on). Wow.

And your "Wow" after the parenthesis must stand for Wendy O. Williams. But, really, she's just Anni-Frid and Agnetha combined with Marilyn Manson...

I am really really liking her, which is surprising because I generally do not like dance-style music. She reminds me a lot of Madonna, to be honest.

I hadn't even heard of her until a few days ago (and really, not having heard any of her music, until now). I approve of anyone who has a tattoo from Rilke. And an entire verse in an already spectacular song referencing Alfred Hitchcock. I'm impressed.

It was bound to happen.

She really has an eye for imagery, and she is actually legitimately talented so...

Plus I like her tattoos.

This is my first exposure. And since I'd watched all of Nina Hagen on Youtube already, it's about time. Inspiring. Just was thinking today about how you might as well use everything you have and more - then this.
