Sigur Ros

So, a Second Life acquaintance, Loki Eliot, has inadvertently gotten me and Spooky hooked on the Icelandic band Sigur Ros. Their music is just too, too wonderful. So, here's a sample...

Silk in the UK
Completely unconnected to this post, but do you know of a way to buy the paperback version of Silk in the UK? It appears the only available version is the Gauntlet Press hardback edition, which at £36 is a little over my budget for a novel. I have checked UK Amazon and asked at Waterstones, who say if Amazon do not sell it they are unlikely to be able to get it. After reading the blog I don't want to resort to buying it second hand, but I do want to read it! Any suggestions?

All I know to tell you is that there's no UK edition of Silk, nor is there likely to be one. However, you may order the (revised) paperback from Amazon by following this link, and you can get it for a mere $7.99 (+p&h). Hope this works for you. :-)

Also, Amazon UK should carry the US edition. I'll look into this.

Thank you! It's been ordered from US Amazon, I rather stupidly didn't realise you could order direct from the US site, I shall know for the future!
I checked again, but it isn't available new on Amazon UK. The American versions of your other novels are listed, but not Silk.

Hi Caitlin. New reader to this LJ. I hadn't commented before, but I am going to now!
I love Sigur Ros. I've loved them for many years. I saw them live once when I was pregnant a couple years ago, and they're just as amazing live as they are on their cd. Did you know the lead singer plays his guitar with a violin bow? That's why it sounds so amazing.

This Loki of yours.. thank him very much. :)

Yep. It just blows my mind.

I know, it's amazing. It's hard to fathom such musical talent.

The band I saw open before them.. (can't remember their name, I can look it up if you want) they're also Icelandic. The girl plays a saw with a bow. Now that's mind blowing, as well. Makes such eerie yet beautiful noises.

We have one of their promo cd's buried around the house somewhere. I can find it and tell you their name if you'd like. They're a chic band, and in their own respect just as amazing as Sigur Ros. There's about five members in the band and they can all play just about everything they lay their hands on. Insanely talented.

Sure. I can look for it tomorrow.
Ever since we've moved it's been hard to get all of our stuff out with the limited space.
I will comment to you tomorrow once I find it.

Thank you! I've been meaning to look up this band for ages and you forced my hand by posting this. Now to buy albums...

Pretty much the same here. It's a name I've heard forever but since I never actually happened to hear anything by them, I never bothered to search. Clearly, that was stupid of me, because now I have years of music to catch up on.
But it's a nice thing to have to catch up on...
