Addendum: Podcasts?

Here's the promised podcast poll. Content would mostly consist of readings of my own writing and maybe also work by other writers, as well.

Would you like to see podcasts, both as an extra feature for Sirenia Digest subscribers and in the blog?

I'm in favor of hearing your voice finally!

Ah, but there is always the danger that you will be disappointed.

I have assurances from aoniedesade that I won't.

(I kind of want to use an emoticon here, but I feel more strongly that I should resist...)

And to get all analytical, I admire the skill of telling a story out loud, whether it's a reading (which I can do) or making it up off the top of your head (which I can't), and I get the feeling you like doing it, too. Hey, it's more practice, like how the Sirenia stories have helped you write more.

Doesn't this all sound better and better? You can do it! You can do it!

*imagines what Caitlin cheerleaders would look like*

OK, I'll stop before this get horrible.

I put indifferent due to my computer doesn't have sound. I think it's a good idea otherwise, but I wouldn't be able to partake in it.

I don't seem to listen to podcasts, or take much advantage of online publications that can be heard as well as read; although I will say that I am more tempted by readings of yours.

I voted Yes. The only time I've ever heard your voice was on the CD that accompanied the limited hardback of Silk, though if memory recalls, I believe you told me you had a cold or something at the time of recording the interview snippets (or maybe that was the cover of House of the Rising Sun, I can't remember correctly). Anyway, yes, I think a podcast is a grand idea.

I don't know what you're considering using for recording, perhaps just the iMac's built in mic. But, if you choose an outside option, I'll recommend the Blue Snowball Mic, as it's cheap and I've used it both for spoken word, as well as recording my band, and it works wonderfully, with only a few strange bugs that I could help you fix should you ever consider it.

Gods, they're gorgeous. Define cheap. I couldn't find anything on the website about pricing.

Sweetwater has them for $99. Which is actually a bit cheaper than I paid for mine. And I have to say, they do work very well, especially for just voice work.

For the record I would have voted yes even if this were going to be offered only as a part of a more expensive "premium" subscription -- which, given that this would take even more time out of your month would be a completely reasonable thing to do.

(Sorry I haven't been more active in your lj lately, Mistress Science has me on a pretty short leash).
