The WikiMeme

I'm become such a wikipede of late, you'd think I wouldn't be one of the last folks on/in the dratted "blogosphere" (hate that "word") to do this meme. But there you go.

Three events, two births, one death: May 26th

1828 - Mysterious feral child Kaspar Hauser is discovered wandering the streets of Nuremberg.

1897 - Bram Stoker's novel Dracula goes on sale in London.

1917 - A powerful F4 tornado rips Mattoon, Illinois apart, killing 101 persons and injuring 689. It was the world´s longest-lasting tornado, lasting for over 7 hours and traveling 293 miles, spreading death and destruction along its path.

(Maybe you don't see a pattern here, but I sure do.)

---

1799 - Aleksandr Pushkin, Russian author (d. 1837)

1955 - Masaharu Morimoto, Japanese chef

---

1995 - Friz Freleng, American animator (b. 1905)

One down...

When I turned on CNN this morning and saw that a tornado had caused havoc in the Atlanta area, I got kind of worried about you. They at length mentioned it was actually in a county north of Atlanta, but it was still nice to see you'd posted when I woke up this afternoon.

Studying these patterns, keeping track of these events is very interesting to me, and in some weird way, dovetails with a part of my spirituality. I'm a skeptical, analytical metaphysicist.

I miss the days when astronomy and astrology were taught side by side.
