Roy Batty

It's 5:21 a.m. (CaST), and I am wide awake. Then no-sleep demons strike again. Outside it's still very dark. I hear a garbge truck nearby. It's been a long time since my insomnia was so bad I actually missed a night's sleep, but this may be it. After three hours of tossing and turning, worrying about the trip to Alabama on the 15th and about moving this spring and etc., I'm going to try and do some work. Here in Providence, it's 22˚F.

Yesterday, I spent three and a half hours dealing with the line edits for 46.55% of the ms. of The Dinosaur Tourist (the first 169 pp.). I need to finish with the line edits today, so that on Wednesday I can write the notes I want to write for each story and then on Thursday attend to all the loose ends that every manuscript inevitably presents when I think I am "finished" with it.

I wish I were asleep. Maybe, if I can get through the rest of this ms., or at least a good portion of it, I can nap in the early afternoon.

Agents of Dreamland has been nominated for a Bram Stoker Award. The final ballot came out yesterday. Also, I was pleased to see both The Shape of Water and Episode 8 of Twin Peaks: The Return receive nominations. And it's good to see Ellen Datlow and Steve Rasnic Tem on the list, as well.

Okay. I'm gonna give this a go. Good luck, me.
