"I have memories, but I can't tell if they're real."

Sunny and chilly today. Currently, it's 60˚F. Hideous autumn has arrived.

No writing yesterday. Somehow, four days have slipped away. Instead, I went to the bank to deposit a check that had been laying around for a while, and I went to Walgreen's and got my flu shot. The latter has me feeling ill today.

When at the storage unit on Tuesday, I discovered a two-hour videotape I shot in early October 1993, footage of Athens, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama (down around the tracks and Morris Avenue). It was all meant as research for Silk. I tried to watch it yesterday, which was a mistake. It was somehow heartbreaking to see, and seeing it has left me disoriented and feeling even more as if I do not in any way belong in this place or this time. Anyway, I'm going to have the tape transferred to DVD, and then I'll donate the original VHS to the John Hay Library.
