Penn Again

We departed New Orleans at 7:00 ayem yesterday morning. I didn't sleep the night before, as it was easier to stay awake than get up that damn early. However, I also somehow "forgot" to have dinner, so I was fairly delirious by the time we reached the station about 5:00 ayem. I watched the sun rise over Lake Pontchartrain, than passed out and slept for four hours, awaking somewhere in central Alabama.

All went well until, somewhere past Birmingham, we hit bad weather and the train had to slow to a crawl. By the time we finally left the depot in Atlanta, we were running about two hours behind schedule. The bad weather continued to plague us all the way up the Eastern Seaboard, and, so, we didn't make in into Penn Station until about half an hour ago.

Which means we missed the train the Kingston. Which means we're sitting here in Penn Station until the 5:00 train to Kingston. Which means we'll not be getting home until sometime around 10:00 p.m.

I'm tired, hungry, thirsty, in need of a bath, sick of dry, processed air and bad food. Spooky is near a state of unhing'edness from cat depravation. Still and all, train travel remains the only civilized mode of long-distance travel.
