"Do you hear sounds? Does the silence have a voice?"

First, congratulations to sovay and derspatchel on the occasion of the announcement of their engagement. Very, very wonderful news.

Also, I've been invited to be in Istanbul this November. There will be details, later.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the release of The Drowning Girl: A Memoir (according to the official release date). And it has been a strange, difficult year. Some good, more bad than expected. But here we are again.

Here in Providence, we're expecting another buttload of snow from Saturn. Okay, that came out odd, didn't it? Still, it's true. It's also true that the weather is hiding the comet PANSTARRS (C/2011 L4) from our view, on this, its closest ever known approach to Earth. So, fuck you, Saturn. That is, the storm. Not the planet, not the god. They're still aces in my book.

Today, the CEM for The Ape's Wife and Others goes back to Subterranean Press. Oh, and there are some new eBay auctions up.

Yesterday, I wrote 1,293 words on Chapter Four of Red Delicious*, and then there was a phone call from my agent. And other stuff. Mt thanks to everyone on Twitter, LJ, and Facebook who took the time to congratulate me yesterday about the Tiptree win.

But now, says the kitten, and the platypus, and the dodo, it's time to make the doughnuts.

Aunt Beast

* On Monday, the new title of the third Siobhan Quinn novel came to me. It won't be Puppy Love, but Cherry Bomb (Yes, after the Runaways' song of the same name).
