And it was another more or less wretched day. I did a little work, mostly the last line edits on a story for Ellen Datlow.
The day's comfort movie was Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond (2016). It's a lot of fun, this film, and I'm especially fond of Sofia Boutella's performance as Jaylah, but I do miss J.J. Abrams' direction. It is a shame there has not yet been a fourth film with this cast.
I forgot to mention in the last entry that yesterday I went back to listening to the Houses Under the Sea audiobook. I made it through a sorta screechy take on "The Dead and the Moonstruck" and a rather good reading of "Houses Under the Sea."
I look at Afghanistan, and I am appalled. I look at America, and I am appalled.
