Entry No. 5,444

I hardly slept last night, and I'm not awake this morning. Currently, it's only 80˚F, with the heat index at 84˚F. This hardly counts as summer, and certainly not dog days.

Yesterday, we proofed "The Prayer of Ninety Cats," and then headed out to my mom's in Leeds to do a mountain of laundry, which took most of the night. We ate barbecue from Rusty's and watched the third episode of Ken Burns' The War. We got Jack's for breakfast on the way home this morning.

I'm in a low place. I don't know what might help.

Love the puzzle, and the Owl of Infinite Wisdom brought a smile to my face. (It was a cool but exhausting evening - I forgot how loud and bright indoors music can be.) I wish there was something to soothe the place you are in.

I've been feeling like that a bit lately too. If there's anything I can do to help just let me know.

Barbecue helps a little bit. It mostly sucks here in PA, but I've tracked down a joint or two. One place has, inexplicably, the best Brisket ever, insanely perfect beefy fatty smoky juicy goodness.

Another place the meat is meh, it's ok, but the sides- creamed spinach, mac n cheese, black pepper green beans. Oh, and sticky Pecan Pie. Yep.
