Hate vs. Hate

There is sun and blue sky outside my office window, but it seems a thousand miles away.

I slept four hours, at best. I lay awake unable to stop thinking about the horror in Charlottesville, Virginia. Unable to stop thinking about Nazis marching with torches and lunatics running people down with cars. Unable to stop thinking about this death spiral of violence and hatred and fear. And today I am too heartsick to think coherent thoughts.

In the past half hour one person on Facebook unfriended me for being "racist against whites" and another for "defending Trump." One side sees me as demonically liberal and the other as demonically conservative, and that is why I try to keep my mouth shut. I am not playing these partisan "death to all who oppose us" games. Someone named Jeani Rector (connected to something called "Horrorzine") just accused me – seriously – of defending Trump. Then she blocked me before I could reply.

I can only pray for calm and peace and sanity as the world seems hellbent on self destruction.

"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." ~ Martin Luther King

You and I have seldom agreed on political issues. That does not mean that I value you or your achievements any less. It is a damn shame that people are so crazy nowadays.
