We're still having March in July here in Providence. Currently, it's 60˚F and rainy. We are promised sun and warmer weather for tomorrow. I do hope so. This drags my soul down, and it wasn't doing so great to start with.

I tried to write that new scene for Black Helicopters yesterday, but I just couldn't make it happen. So, I'm proceeding with the copyediting, and I'm going to ask Jonathan Strahan (my editor at for his take on the two unwritten scenes. I handled a bunch of email yesterday. I'm going to be translated into Chinese. I watched the news in horror.

7/24 ~ And then there are the days when I spend so much time second-guessing my every decision that I don't even trust myself to proofread, much less write new prose. The older I get, the more of these days I have. My successes only seem to make me less sure of my abilities.

7/25 ~ I would go so far as to say that social media, and especially Twitter, is evil, that it is the greatest man-made evil since the atomic bomb, the greatest technological evil. And like the atomic bomb, many people, including many of its creators, falsely believed – in the beginning – that the power being unleashed could be controlled and marshaled and used for something other than destruction, that the destructive capabilities would pale in comparison to nuclear energy's capacity for creation. That the better angels of our nature would carry the day. They were wrong then, and they are wrong now.

7/25 ~ Social media is that whore with antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea who's making you feel better than you've ever felt in your life, all the while infecting you, and how can that be harmful?
