A World Made of Ice

I found these graphics at the New York Times and I thought it should share. It really drive home the point of what we're coping with up here. Spooky is referring to the Northeast as "the New Arctic." The images are behind the cut. These are composite from 60 individual images via the the MODIS Satellite for the month of February 2015.

Detail, New England.

And I made this. Greater detail, with Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and southeastern New York. The red arrow on the left marks Woodstock. The Red arrow on the right, Providence.

Your Weather Gal,
Aunt Beast

I hadn't seen these. Thank you. That whiteout is vivid.

This is AMAZING. The more so to me since here in the maritime Northwest we have had essentially NO winter, no long rainy stretches, no intense snowfall, no really cold temperatures, and are transitioning into spring (70 degrees F and everything in bloom) a month to two months ahead of normal. What the fuck!
