Currently, it's 27˚F. Most of the snow is still with us, and there will be flurries today and tonight.

Yesterday, I did 1,089 words on The Secret Project. Which means I'm only 3,748 words from 10,000 words and saying what this is I'm working on. Though, if you're paying attention it should be fairly obvious.

I had something scary happen last night, and I know I should have gone to the ER. But the average cost for an uninsured visit to the ER is $1,233, and never mind all the tests and shit that would follow. So, I didn't go. Today, I'm not sure what to do. Maybe call my doctor. But she'd probably say something unhelpful, like go to the ER. So, instead, I will probably try to write.

On the bright side, I haven't had a cigarette since just before Christmas.

Last night, we saw a really superb film, Rosemary Myers' Girl Asleep (2015). It's sort of like Alice in Wonderland, if Alice in Wonderland took place in 1970s Australia. Recommended.

For Valentine's Day, I made Spooky a construction paper heart, and then she made a considerably more elaborately one for me (photo below). Also, I just figured out that, at the current pace of one entry a day, my 5,000th LJ entry will be made on my 53rd birthday, May 26, 2017. How weird is that?

Time to make the doughnuts. I refuse to die in the winter in Rhode Island.

Resistance, Peace, and Compassion,
Aunt Beast

Maybe call my doctor
Please do. Take care of yourself. I hope you feel better. Your fans and friends may be able to help with the medical bills, but don't prevent yourself from staying as healthy as possible.

Having been in something like that situation before, I can understand. I remember making myself worry even more by googling symptoms and trying to self-diagnose. Good luck to you, I hope it all becomes a memory very fast.

That's a really sweat heart.

I think that's a good life goal. Be as well as you can and let me know if there's anything I can do.

I'm sorry to hear about your scare. My best wishes for a recovery.

Spooky's Valentine(plus the McCarthy) made me smile.

Tried to post a link to the Rhode Island Free Clinic, but it was marked SPAM. So in future, it's a great option and quite near you at 655 Broadway 401-274-6347

The health issue is scary and I hope you are feeling better. It is also scary and not only the cost - the ER Dr's against ACA (Obamacare) are not kind to anyone w.out insurance or those w. insurance via ACA or they are not in our area. We expressed our fears to our Dr about going to the ER and he is considerate in that regard.
I have an anxiety disorder and you know how that gets anything else dismissed in the ER, beginning at the front desk - even the history of the wonky heart and and mini-strokes. It would literally have to be life or death emergency for either of us to go the ER - stroke or actual heart attack. It is horrible that health care has come to this for so many ppl. I feel fortunate our Dr has known us for yrs and has not become so cynical and detached he won't take the effort for the well being of his patients.

I hope you were able to distract w. writing. My daughter has pulled out a Poppy Z. Brite book and one of your books off the shelf. She re-read "Coraline" last wk.

We watched the DVD of "Arrival" and I found it to be engrossing and was involved enough to be distracted. Amy Adams can just play any role and do it so well. Checked on Netflix for "Girl Asleep" and added it to the list.
